Happy Thriftin' New Year !

Have to post my New Year's Eve's thrift store deals to end the year with a bang, and not on my wallet ! Target beachbag by Luella $3.00
Black in new condition ( nice and starchy) Ann Taylor slacks $2.50.

I'll post more as I find pics, or take some of my items in use, then you will know I don't bring home JUNK ;0.

But, I need to confess a time my thriftiness failed me, ( not paying enough attention).
Our town has had an explosion of hair salon openings. Our local paper ran an ad for a free wash and blow dry. It took me two seconds to call for an appt. Saturday came Hubby was home with boys, and off I trotted to have my hair fluffed. Everyone was so very kind, and in broken English and alot of smiling we tryed to converse.
When, my hair was done, I tipped the hairdresser at her station. Proceeded to front to grab coat, and waltz my pretty hair out the door. "Wait, Mame", "You must pay!"
Me" oh no I'm here from the ad you ran in the paper, see in the paper here is the ad."
Wrong Salon, ten shades of red, I paid the bill and there was nothin' thrifty about it!
I persisted with the "ad salon", and there had a $15.00 haircut and blowdry, cheaper that haircuttery ! And, she was a top notch dresser, so I'm stylin !

Not Me Monday

I did not ask 6yr. old if he want to go to "PumpItUp", today.
And, that he could pay with his Walmart gift card from Grammie!
Because, he certainly wouldn't want a toy over playing on huge inflated slides.
I hope I don't see you there, either ;)
Last night I did not want to beat my Hubby with the wire hanger he was holding when he suggested I do school work with 6yr.old this week, nope not me. But, he did ask!
Also, I most intentionally did not tuck my shirts in and wear my new belt sinched, b/c I knew with my PMS this coming week, I will only fit into sweats.

Oh, and for the record I do not hear Dr. Phil's voice saying " And, how much fun are you to live with"? Nope I can tune him out!

So spoiled !

I have so much to be thankful for, a Savior who loves me enough to have died for my sins, and offer me eternal life.
A great Husband, who works hard, loves our boys, and takes time to meet my needs.
Healthy children with trainable spirits.
Food to eat, a warm home with hot showers, a working washer and dryer, all the convinces of this American lifestyle I live.........may I never take this for granted is my heart's cry......and that may I pass this thankfulness down to my boys, that whether they be in plenty or in want, they will know the Lord God sees all.

This is the playset, Hubby designed and built in our backyard........

Some family friends outgrew their playset, so we inherited it. And, in one week's time Hubby add the tunnel, then spiral slide. Noah loves it!

Not Me Monday

I did not wake this morning expecting a "Happy Birthday" from Hubby and a gift.
And, when neither appeared, I thought his gift was "acts of service", so did not start treating him as a slave, and order him around kitchen !
Then, when he started to head out the door for work I most certainly did not batt my eyes and ask if he was going to say "Happy B-day", to me.

Quick as can be he retrieved my gift, and apoligized for forgetting, we laughed b/c usually on my B-day he wakes me too early, so excited to give me my gift.

Oh and the gift was not a Brighton flower buckle belt ( size adjustable), and exactly what I needed....Happy "Not Me Monday" to ya's !

Along time ago......a little boy sat down with winter plates......

He sits no more, he has too much energy. Here is our Christmas tree from last year, as this year Santa Daddy will bring in and decorate Christmas Eve, for a morning impact ! My apron is from Freecycle, and reads "I'd rather be scrapbooking". te-he it's true!
Hoping for snow ? Us too !
I'm so excited! Kitchen "must" be decorated as that's where I am.......listening to Jars of Clay, Little Drummer Boy. The frame behind my sink was hand cut for me as a Wedding gift. ( we were married Christmas day,14yrs. ago).
Dishes done, sit and relax with me......remember Noah & Mike built this stable for our Willow Nativity ? Sweet memories.
Yes, that Slavador rockin' out under our Merry Christmas.The black frames are holding a set of hand stitched sleighs, that I bought at a thrift store, then framed.

Help yourself, they are still warm and plenty.....
Have a goodie bag for yourself......yes these are the Martha Stewart baggies, bought at craft store with a 40% off coupon ;)

We did these for Noah's Homeschool Happy Birthday Jesus party.
He handed them out, and the kids were pleased with them.
Noah really got the hang of turning the paper as you cut, so I'm very
proud of him.

My Hubby Rocks !

Today, Katy Lin, our hostess for My Husband Rocks, has asked us if we would like to share a favorite Christmas memory that we have with our husbands.
Well, since Mike & I were married Christmas Day, I'd have to say that's my first favorite memory of Christmas as a couple. I loved looking into his eyes as the Preacher went over our nows, and we took them seriously.......but we did get a bit chatty up on the alter ;)
That was 14 Christmases ago, and a fond memory of my Hubby. This picture is after all celebrating was done and we sat back ( well I reclined to the point of my feet in his lap ) LOL.

Not Me Monday

Here i go again.........I do not have pterygia that redens my eye whites.....I've just had one too many ! ( seriously I love when ppl do try to figure our if I'm drunk after they look in my eyes)
I did not drop Noah off 1/2 an hr. earlier to his playdate this morning & not even get out of the car, Nope not me;)


Come tomorrow, at Noah's Happy Birthday Jesus Homeschool party, I will totally have an assigned duty, because you know I volunteered, right ?

Oh and my floor is not laden in crumbs & Cheerios, b/c I don't want to tell Hubby vacuum broke until after Christmas, although a vacuum under the Christmas tree is just what I want .............

I love this guy !
My hubby Rocks,
because he's always trying to think of ways to make my job at home easier. Today, he came home from work ( forgot his cellphone),
and saw I was cleaning my make-up bag contents
( and only Jessica D knows the mess of it all).
And, before leaving said "Honey go online and pick out another bigger cabinet for all your "stuff"". So sweet !
I have an addiction to cosmetics and it's not pretty ;)

Dentist

Went to the Dentist today. Had a routine cleaning, then it was time for the inspection by Dr. He started poking the molars, and then asked if I had a tiny silver filling, "Naw". Asking, hygentist look and see if tooth # 14 has filling.
"Nope". "Well it looks like the tinest filling I've ever seen".
AHem......no filling scrap it out...........oh it's a tiny candy foil wrapper, you know like from Kisses and Recee's Peanutbutter cups.
No kidding ! What was I left to say ? Thanks for getting that out :)

Proud Homeschool Momma !

Yep ! Before Noah was ready to read he'd often ask when I'd teach him, I would tell him when his teeth started falling out.
Here he is two teeth lost later, and now he's reading this simple 3 letter word Bob books. So, proud I am !

Got Noah involve with cutting, he decided he'd like to use it as a basket to carry the scripture verses he print out to give to Thanksgiving guest.

Not Me Monday !

This past week I did not put baby in highchair,and let 6yr. old play babysitter while i climbed back into bed, No Way !
I did organize a family photo shoot, but most certainly did not wake baby after a 1 hr. nap, only to have him cry through the whole shoot, Nah ! Bet, you can't wait to see those........
We did not hang our Christmas Yankee car air fresheners, way too early for that, nor have we lit the Jack Frost candle....just way too early in the season !

Here' the necklaces I've put together for our nieces' Christmas gifts.
I still need to make another for the youngest, hers will have hearts and crystals.
I wish I had a tool to stamp there names in, ......maybe next year ;)

I'm working on handmade gifts for my oh-so trendy nieces. Can you guess ?
I'll update with complete picture, if i don't wrap them, too quickly .
And, just to brag a little, all my relatives gifts are wrapped and tagged for Christmas ! I feels good to post that b/c last year we had a one month old, and nothing was wrapped, te-he !

I skipped last week, but by no means did my Hubby let me down, so this week I'll do two weeks worth of bragging .

Last Saturday as a family, including my Mom, we went to the Courthouse to celebrate our boys' adoptions. I took the above picture outside our small town courthouse. The workers there joked how this was the only "Happy Day" in court. The judge rambled about his take on adoption, and in the end we had two certificates to Congratulate us on becoming a family legally.We were already bonded in heart, but this showed we had enough money and education to endure the lenghty task of adopting.

My Hubby cleaned the house yesterday, patched up nail holes and rehung pictures to my liking. So kind !
He also took myself and the boys to complete our Christmas shopping before the rush, which is my pet peeve not his.
And, as if that didn't make my day complete, he also allow me some time to thrift shop alone........oh man did I get some deals ! All, because he's so willing to love on me just how I need it !

Baby Boy

This guy cracks us up with all his PERSONALITY !
He loves to cock his head to one side, then peek at you.
He loves to hid behind curtains, so you can find him.
He thinks his talented for carrying two books in one hand while walking.
And, I think we love all of him !

Randomness

Today during Bible study with the family, Noah insisted Titus needed a Bible, and retrieved his littlest one for him. So giving, and of course Titus loved being included, even at the age of one. Mike made a fire in the woodstove before leaving for work, and I've used it as a tool to bribe Noah to complete his school work, because roasted marshmallows are my kid's dream come true.
I am thankful to have a washing machine & dryer here in my house, and that our home is one floor. It so helps me keep up on that chore.
Today I hope it flurries, as we borrowed a friend's Polar Express DVD, so we can watch it at first snowfall.
Tomorrow, we have plans to host another homeschool family for lunch. I must be "losing it", because I am considering doing a craft. Since, we have an abundance of baby food jars, ( Thanks Mom ) I am wanting to do miniature snowglobes.
I am looking forward to Thursday as it is Hubby's day off and we have a friend/photographer who will take our family portrait. I've been waiting for this quit sometime, now.

My Hubby Rocks !

My Hubby has called 3 babysitters for tonight, he hasn't gotten a " Yes", yet but he's on a mission. He needs to do a lot of hanging out as a Youth Pastor, tonight is a football game, H.S. play, and coffeehouse band. And, since he works 9-5, this cuts out on family/couple time. It's so sweet that he wants my company, and is even willing to search out a babysitter, and pay, just to have me with him. So once again

Happy 1st Birthday ! It's actually tomorrow,and I am so thankful for him.
He has completed our family, and keeps us laughing. I've already recounted to the family what I was doing a year ago today, b/c they are such fond memories !
